Airlie Beach, 25 km from the Bruce Highway on the coast, is the departure point for the Whitsundays, notably from Coral Sea Marina (formerly known as Abell Point Marina). Every year in September, the Whitsunday Fun Race Festival is held, with stiff competition between the yachts.
