The construction of a Benedictine priory around the year 1000, dedicated to Saint Anthème, marked the arrival of the first buildings on the banks of the river Ance. This waterway attracted the Count de la Roue and led to the construction of the castle of the same name. Situated halfway between Ambert and Montbrison, the village is ideally situated for exploring the Ance valley. The village is enjoying a new lease of life thanks to the development of green tourism and the Prabouré mountain activity park. You'll also appreciate the village and its small heritage, such as its church, nicely nicknamed the Cathedral of the Mountains, its Grand-Rue and the Saint-Just chapel.
