The municipality of Barlovento, located in the north of the island of La Palma, has a long agricultural tradition due to its underground water resources. The main crops are potatoes, followed by bananas and nowadays avocados. In the village of Barlovento, only the church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, dating from the sixteenth century, is worth a visit. But if you go there in August, you can attend the patron saint fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Rosario. They are both a well-attended pilgrimage and a reconstruction of the Battle of Lepanto, which is a most surprising event.
