Pedestrian alleys, traditional architecture, long seafront, lively city centre, the city has many assets. Both charming and authentic. Founded in 1493 by the conquistador Alonso Fernández de Lugo, it was attacked by the French privateer Sombreuil, known as Jambe de Bois, in 1553. Like the great ports of the Canary Islands, it has not escaped the buildings of the 1950s and 1960s, but has retained a charming town centre with many houses with traditional balconies and tiled roofs, and a plethora of churches dating back to the 16th century. You can stay there for a few days with pleasure and also enjoy the beach, which is now equipped.
