At nearly 300 m above sea level it is one of the oldest villages on the island and was also one of the most powerful Guanche chiefdoms in Tenerife. We will visit its pyramids, but also its historical centre and religious monuments. Like the church of San Pedro Apostol containing the Virgen del Socorro, highly venerated during a pilgrimage. On the seafront we will note the volcano of Güímar, a cone of brown ash and slag 276 m high. As its ascent is now forbidden, we will not see its crater of about 300 m in diameter and 50 m deep, once cultivated. But we'll be able to enjoy the tapas competitions three times a year.
