The land on which this hotel El patio is built was known as Finca Malpais and belonged to the Ponte family, originally from Genoa. In 1565 they built a small chapel at the entrance to the property, which is now unused but can be visited. The establishment which serves as a hotel is also 400 years old and enjoys a very special location, within a large banana plantation of 60 hectares.
