Just 13 kilometers from the capital, this fishing village is very popular with English tourists in summer. You can, however, stop off to visit the ancient Roman baths and find good places to sleep or eat. You'll find more peace and quiet nearby. Continuing south, the beaches of the Perama coast offer a little more peace and quiet at Aghios Ioannis, Moraitaki and Messonghi. The picturesque village of Stavros is just a few kilometers away: it's the highest point in the valley, and the views are breathtaking. This village is one of the few on the whole island of Kerkyra to retain its traditional Greek style.
