At 22.5 kilometres from Corfu, nature is beginning to take its course. The village is built on a rock and the azure colour of the sea is superb. The road then winds along the cliffs. Just before Aghios Stephanos, the closest point to Albania, you will find some good taverns in Agni and on the port of Kouloura. In between lies the pebble beach of Kalami, which inspired Lawrence Durrell to create Prospero Island. With its feet in the water, White House, the writer's former home, is now a medium quality restaurant serving some good fish. The view is just as beautiful and the food more appetizing at the Agni Tavern.
