A picturesque stopover. Admire the Crusader fortress, founded in the 14th century on the ruins of a Byzantine citadel and perched high above the village. Stroll through the pretty white streets, around the Church of St. John (with its beautiful 14th-century frescoes) or the Church of the Taxiarchs, with its distinctive bell tower. Below, the sandy beach of Stegna Beach is one of the most beautiful in the east. Here you'll find two seafood tavernas renowned throughout Rhodes: Perigiali for its small rouzetia and Stegna Kozas for its sea urchin linguine. The hotels here are charming and on a human scale. KTEL buses run every 90 minutes or so from Rhodes city.
