20 km from Rhodes town, this village, built to be invisible(afando) to pirates, has now been turned over to mass tourism. Afandou's long beach, however, is less crowded than its northern neighbors. Only a few stretches of the beach are equipped with deckchairs and umbrellas. You'll find a little peace and quiet here, as well as two of the island's best fish restaurants. The pebbles of Afandou beach are also used for the mosaics that adorn the courtyards of traditional Rhodesian houses. KTEL buses run every 90 minutes or so from Rhodes town (allow 35 minutes for the journey).
