Historic mosque bearing the name of Suleiman the Magnificent.
This historic mosque (1523) is named after an admiral of Suleyman the Magnificent who died during the Rhodes attack on the Knights of St. John. For centuries, sailors would come to visit his grave in the adjacent cemetery before going to sea, to keep the luck with them. In the beautiful Muslim cemetery next to the mosque, note the stelae sometimes surmounted by a turban, a sign of a religious or political dignitary. In poor condition, it remains a striking testimony of this 16th century Ottoman period.
