The beautiful black sand beach of Kamari welcomes tourists who expect more comfort and quiet than in Perissa. The hotels and bars that line the beach offer a good standard at reasonable prices. Beware, however, that this seaside resort is overrun by tour operators in summer and is often crowded. You can enjoy a stroll along the waterfront in the late afternoon, even if the airplanes fly overhead. Near the sea, you will see some ruins of ancient dwellings. On Mount Elias, the Byzantine church of Episkopi, founded in the 11th century, has well-preserved frescoes.
