9 kilometers from Thira, Monolithos is a not-so-peaceful waterside village. Its name is best known for being home to Santorini's (too) small airport, which means it is constantly busy with cabs and buses. In general, arriving travellers take cabs to the capital. Nonetheless, the village does boast a pleasant beach, which is especially secluded so as not to be crowded all the time! A few trees line it, and there's generally no need to pay for sunbeds - proof that mass tourism hasn't arrived yet! A little further north, along the coast, head for Vourvoulos Beach (before Paradise Beach).
