Just 4 kilometers south of Thira, a lively and friendly village, part of this more cosy and relaxing village is built on the caldera, overlooking the volcano and the Aegean Sea. You can breathe a little easier here: surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, this environment also adds to its beauty. There are a number of neoclassical houses surrounded by vineyards and gardens, one of which is worth a visit. In the 19th century, the village was still the island's industrial center, dotted with troglodyte houses and mansions. To extend your visit, take the lovely walk to Vothonas, home to two troglodyte churches.
