Klima enjoyed a prosperous history, reaching its peak during the Archaic and Classical periods. In those days, the ancient city was surrounded by great walls that extended all the way down to the sea. It produced its own silver coins and created its own alphabet. Today, the ruins of its amphitheatre can still be visited. Today, it's hard to imagine such activity in this tiny fishing port, which retains its authentic feel. Tourism is developing only slowly. In summer, the locals live in small, multicolored cottages that have been handed down from generation to generation in old fishing families.
