Welcome to Sifnos! While the arrival by boat at Kamares is impressive, the port itself seems rather uncharming at first glance. Bordering a bay and surrounded by somewhat hostile mountains, Kamares nevertheless boasts a large, pleasant beach. The water is shallow, making it popular with families. The general atmosphere is friendly, especially at the end of the day and in the evenings, when people come to watch the sun set towards the west and dine in one of the many seaside restaurants with their feet in the sand. The port also boasts some of the island's oldest churches. The village is well-developed and attracts a large number of tourists during the summer months. A municipal tourist office just opposite the quay provides information on accommodation and bus timetables.
