Limni is a rather pretty town, built in amphitheatre on a wooded hill around a large pebble beach. A bit of mythology on the way: according to the legend, it was the place of the wedding of Zeus and Hera. Limni, which has preserved some of its classic houses, is not a bad choice for a quiet holiday away from the crowds. An excursion is possible to visit the monastery of Aghios Nikolaos or Moni Galataki, 10 kilometres away. This monastery, founded in the 7th century on the ruins of a temple of Poseidon, is the main local curiosity. Its 16th century frescoes are interesting.
