Tolo, on the Argolid peninsula, is a seaside resort which also offers accommodation not far from Nafplio... and swimming. Only 8 km from Nafplio, Tolo is bordered along its entire length by a sandy beach. It is also an excellent starting point to discover the surrounding archaeological sites. There are the remains of the acropolis of the ancient city of Assine (a small road leads off to the left and goes down for about 1 km). The remains are modest, but with a little imagination, one can reconstruct the imposing walls that surrounded the site. Nearby, archaeologists have discovered a Mycenaean necropolis with corridor tombs.
