Castle composed of the Greek castle, the frank fort and the one with double tower.

The Acronauplie, which can be seen from the citadel, is a fortified castle built on the peninsula overlooking the old town. There is a Greek fortified castle, a Frankish fortified castle in the centre and a castle with a double tower at the eastern end. The oldest walls date from the Byzantine period, they were built to resist pirate attacks. Under Frankish rule (1210-1377), the fortifications remained as they were. Those that are still preserved today were erected during the two periods of Venetian domination

Le site est fermé

Le dernier tronçon de la route qui mène au site est fermé. Même si on ne peut plus accéder tout en haut, on peut cependant monter en direction du site pour avoir une belle vue sur la ville.
Ces ruelles excentrées du centre ville sont délabrées et taguées.
