Nice village on the north coast, built in the 14th century and fortified in the 16th, which gathers old Venetian houses around its large and well sheltered harbor. Jelsa developed in the 19th century thanks to the shipbuilding industry and later to the production of wine. Many hotels, restaurants and other tourist establishments were built in the 1960s. Today, tourism is an increasingly important part of the local economy, taking advantage of the beautiful nature nearby - large pine forests, beautiful sandy beaches, intimate coves and freshwater springs - and the new seaplane landing strip.
