The only one on the west coast of the island, this fishing village was founded in the 18th century by a noble shipowner of Venetian origin named Marchi. He built a castle and a small village for the peasants who cultivated the land around. Recently, a nautical port with 60 places for pleasure boats and a pier for ferries and catamarans was opened. In the restored family castle, the Martinis Marchi Heritage is a luxury hotel that fits well with the mega-yachts that dock here. Also popular for family vacations, Maslinica remains a renowned destination for diving.
