With an art history similar to that of the ancient cities along the Dalmatian coast (Zadar, Šibenik, Split, Dubrovnik), Trogir is a remarkable example of architectural continuity. The walled city was built on Hellenistic and medieval foundations, followed by Renaissance, Baroque and Classical styles. The original plans have been preserved with a minimum of modern intervention. Each urban development follows its own trajectory, its own social and cultural movement, while fitting into a harmonious whole. For Unesco, this is the fundamental criterion! The inner city was included in the classification in 1997.
