PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK

From mid-April to the end of October, the two main entrances are open + an auxiliary entrance (Flora). 22 km of trails and 36 km of hiking trails. Tickets (daily or for two consecutive days) include two walks, one by car, the other by electric boat and panoramic train.

Entrance I - Rastovača (3 km upstream), at the foot of the largest waterfall, it is the most frequented by tourist buses. The most accessible also for families, people with reduced mobility. It lasts 2-3 hours and allows you to discover the largest waterfall in Croatia (Veliki slap), the lower lakes (Donja jezera) as well as Novakovića brod, Kaluđerovac, Gavanovac and Milanovac until the final point (Kozjački most).

Entrance II - Hladovina. More discreet, overlooking the Kozjak lake, the largest of the site (0.83 km2). Starting with the upper lakes proves to be even more magical. The tourist buses do not stop there, so there are fewer people at the ticket booths. The hike, with a difference in altitude of about 130 m, is less easy. It requires the whole day, time to discover the entirety of the lakes, make a boat ride on Lake Kozjak, land on the banks and then leave to embrace the eastern part of the canyon, the lower lakes (Donja jezera) to the large waterfall Veliki slap and the heights of Stubica (panoramic view of Ciginovac, lake of Prošćansko Jezero). On the way down, the hike ends along the lower lakes and lake Kozjak by boat back to the starting point.

The Auxiliary Entrance II - Flora is located near the entrance II. You can buy your ticket at all three entrances, if you have not already paid for it in your hotel or campsite package. The discovery of the park is mainly done on foot. Some crossings are made by boat on certain navigable lakes with boats specially designed for this purpose.

8 different routes. From 3 to 4 hours (half-day) or 5 to 8 hours (day), they all make a loop and bring you back to your starting point. In the park, the 18 km of fine wooden footbridges allow you to cross the string of ponds and lakes to reach the dirt paths. On the 36 km of thematic hiking trails, the level of difficulty of the route varies depending on the number of kilometers, the route taken, especially on the climbs between the first (Prošća) and the last lake (Novakovića Brod).
