Overlooking Rijeka, the village of Trsat, while keeping its residential side, is a district in its own right. Thanks to the students of the campus, it benefits from an interesting cultural life. The ascent by stairs or by road (bus no. 2) and then the visit of the fortress and the sanctuary (Our Lady of Trsat) can occupy the day well. In the Franciscan monastery, the votive chapel, with its rich treasure, attracts Christians from all over the world, and even Pope John Paul II in June 2003. It is said that the Holy Family appeared here in 1291. Since then, this land of pilgrimage remains very frequented, especially on August 15 (Assumption).
