The village of Marsat is anchored on the côteaux, at the end of the lava Flow of Nugère, a high place of emergence from volcanic sources. Proud of its medieval past, the life of the city organizes, among other things, its convent and the remaining two towers of its citadel. Classified among the oldest marials sanctuaries in France, the village protects its church, Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, containing itself a black Virgin of the th century. Guided tours of the village are organized on Tuesdays in July and August, starting at 15 p. m. and all year for groups, on simple appointment to ✆ 04 73 38 59 45.
