Guided tours of the tanneries in Maringues, to discover the tannery, the vats and the dryer.
The last tannery in Maringues closed its doors in 1920. Since then, there are still some large buildings here that bear witness to this craft. The Grandval Tannery and the Grande Tannerie are open during guided tours organized by the Terre Volcana tourist office. At Grandval, a megissier's workshop - tanner of small skins (sheep, goat, etc.) - is reconstituted. The tools present allow us to approach all the stages of the tanner's know-how. The Great Tannery, intended for the transformation of large hides, has kept its vats and its drying room.
