St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral features stained glass windows by Isaac Fanous, one of the great master glass artists of the 20th century.
The Coptic Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mark was inaugurated in 1968 by Patriarch Cyril VI. It was the home of Orthodox Pope Shénouda III, who died in March 2012. The relics of Saint Mark, which were returned to the Copts of Egypt by Pope Paul VI, are venerated here. One can admire the stained glass windows of Isaac Fanous, one of the great glass masters of the 20th century, who died in 2007. Security at the entrance to the site has been reinforced since the events of 11 December 2016.
