Travel Guide Itungi

There is nothing on site. It is only the pier of the two Marine Services ferries (www.mscl.go.tz), linked by pick-up to Kyela (200 TSH). The boat to Itungi, the MV Songea, connects Matema, Mbamba Bay and also Nkhata Bay in Malawi. Departure to Itungi on Friday at 1pm (20 hours crossing). Schedules may vary, check with the port office. Another smaller ferry, the MV Iringa, covers the north-east of the lake, between Itungi and Manda (book your berth: 2 people per cabin). Buy your ticket at the first house opposite the pier, when the boat is docked. Keep the ticket, which you will be asked for when you leave the boat.
