Safety
As a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre, One Ocean follows all PADI standards
Boat Equipment
All One Ocean boats are equipped with mobile phones, life jackets, snorkel vests, life buoys, first aid kits, emergency oxygen units and two engines in case of breakdown.
PADI Professionals
Dives are always led by experienced and certified PADI guides or our PADI instructors while snorkeling you will be accompanied in the water by one of our snorkel guides.
Dive groups are limited to 4 divers, or less if circumstances allow.
Action Plan
We work with an emergency action plan for all our centers. All One Ocean staff are trained in emergency first aid, as well as oxygen administration in the event of a diving accident, with refresher training held every six months to keep them up to date with any changes to official procedures and techniques.
DAN Safety Partner
Being a DAN Safety Partner means that our staff are 100% prepared to handle a diving medical emergency, and have the necessary equipment.
Dive Insurance
We strongly recommend that you have dive insurance - if you don't have specific dive insurance, please check DAN's temporary memberships which may cover your activity during your holiday.
Weather Forecast
We consult Wind Guru/Buoy Weather/Windfinder/Wisuki daily before planning our boat trips.
Hyperbaric Chamber
A hyperbaric chamber administered by DAN (Réseau Alert Divers) is available and located in Stone Town. This is the only hyperbaric chamber in Tanzania and it continues to operate with the help of One Ocean and other dive centres across Zanzibar.
As an added commitment to diving safety, some of the staff have been trained as hyperbaric chamber operators and assistants to help with any diving accidents that may occur in Zanzibar.

Ethics:
Employees: At One Ocean we strongly believe in training our Tanzanian staff. Through additional training, we are willing to support their development in a range of areas in order for them to gain additional skills and qualifications, both on and off the dive.
Community: We are currently working with a local institute, the Prospective Learning and Charity Institute (PLCI), to select and train graduates of this program to PADI Divemaster level and enable them to gain valuable skills and employment in the tourism sector.
We also strive to directly support local industry by using locally handcrafted dhows in our operations whenever possible.
Donkey dives: ZAASO (Zanzibar Animals Affection Society) was founded and continues to be a sanctuary for abandoned and abused donkeys.
We are happy to help the only NGO that supports animals on the island. One Ocean regularly organizes "Donkey Dives", where all proceeds from the day are directly transferred to ZAASO.
