Located 31 km south of Amman, Madaba is an ideal stop on the Kings' Highway. It is famous for its magnificent mosaics that paved the Byzantine churches as well as the public and private buildings. It is a pleasant and lively little town that enchants all those who linger there. It is also located at a strategic crossroads between Amman, the Dead Sea, the Wadi Mujib reserve and the Hammamat Ma'in springs. It has a varied hotel offer and is chosen by more and more visitors as a base camp to explore the region. Some people even travel there directly from the airport rather than via Amman, as it must be said that the atmosphere in Madaba is much more relaxed. It is also home to the largest Christian community in Jordan. Madaba has a long tradition of mosaic making and you will find more workshops and shops here than anywhere else offering reproductions of ancient works or original creations.
