The narrow streets of this town, which has been awarded the Plus beau détour de France label, are lined with private mansions dating from the 15th to 18th centuries. The abbey church is part of Auvergne's Romanesque architectural heritage. The Tour de l'Horloge (Clock Tower) is also a feature of Issoire. It houses exhibitions. The town has a rich cultural life, with several museums and a concert hall. Don't be surprised to come across biefs and canals. The Couze Pavin forms a veritable water network in the town, irrigating the gardens. The river flows all the way to Square René Cassin, where you can enjoy a pleasant stroll. On Saturdays, Issoire comes alive with the market.
