From Batna, take the road from Timgad and Khenchela and then turn right at the height of Markouna towards Biskra to follow the road that tracks a path along the Abiod Oued. On the right, the desert and dark slopes of Jebel Mahmel, the north of the Aurès massif, built on the highlands.About kilometres from Batna, Arris is a small town, the "capital" of the Aurès, located above the Oued. A small museum of Des allows you to discover some typical pieces of aurésien crafts, including the famous carpets (tallis) and blankets (mergoum) with black background motifs and good jewelry. Further on the road, at the exit of the narrow gorges of Tighanimine, Tifelfel marks the entrance to the canyon of the El-Abiod Oued extending to M'Chounèche.Shortly after this potters village where silver jewelry is made, a small road bypasses the northern face of Jebel Ahmar Kheddou ("red cheeks") passing through T'kut and then a windy plateau where only a few sheep can find their account. From thick forests to rocky méplats, the road reaches close to 1 m high altitude at Djemina, an oasis known for its cliff to the steep wall of 200 m high and its old cave houses, which have been reached by bridges and suspended paths.About kilometres from Arris, by a small road on the left, the Dechras de form a set known as the balconies of Rhoufi. Built according to the curve of the shriveled cliffs bordering the valley by the El-Abiod Oued, the dechras attached to the hills oppose the mechtas, built on the outskirts of the Oued. The view from the gazebo located above the oued is striking on the winding oued almost hidden by the heads of thousands of palm trees grown between deep gorges. At the bottom of the canyon we notice the zaouia of the marabout de. If you have some time, don't hesitate to get down to the oued to follow some of the twists.A few kilometres away, the village of Baniane is quite recent, the old town with picturesque guelaas (greniers on the ground). A 20   km, a path descends on the left towards the oasis of M'chouneche sheltered in a small natural circus from which, among other places, the Algerian revolution on 1 November 1954.Some kilometres before Biskra, the canyon of the El-Abiod Oued ends with the dam and its reservoir of Retenue El-Gherza which appears on the left.
