In a superb setting, the museum exhibits prehistoric remains found during excavations conducted throughout the Maghreb, and particularly in the Oran region. The second floor is devoted to the struggle for independence while the small collection of paintings includes works of orientalists and contemporary Algerian artists, and some "lost" as the Dutch by Philippe de Champaigne. There is also a room devoted to North African fauna and flora.
