Once called Ao Phra Nang (as the road signs still attest), this bay located about 20 kilometers west of Krabi Town is now known as Ao Nang. The coast is dotted with more than 80 islets. The beach is pleasant, the bay beautiful and excursions from Ao Nang are numerous. Most of the hotels are built well back from the beach, or at both ends of the beach, and it is possible to eat seafood in the restaurants lined up on the west side of the beach. The place lacks a bit of soul though. In very high season, that is to say between December and March, it is crowded.
