Karon can be reached from Patong via the south road, after crossing a hilly area. This long 3 km beach is less sheltered from offshore winds than Patong. Swimming here can be dangerous during the monsoon season, due to the currents. Karon's northern and southern sectors are home to hotels of all categories, as well as numerous restaurants, agencies and stores of all kinds. The central part is occupied only by large hotels. All hotels are set back from the beach, on the other side of the coastal road. You'll have to cross this busy road to get to the beach.
