Bang Saphan Yai has an arched beach bordered by a string of filaos and palm trees. A handful of hotels and guesthouses, deserted fishermen's huts, the only company you'll find are cows grazing on the salty grass just a few centimetres from the sand. If you rent a scooter, you can visit the surrounding beaches of the same ilk (Hat Sai Keho, Hat Bo Thong Lang, Hat Pha Deng). Another option is Koh Thalu, a small islet a few kilometers south of Bang Saphan Yai (20 min. by boat). Its pristine white-sand beach is well worth a visit, and it's a good idea to devote a day to exploring it.
