This charming little island of 16 km2 and 800 inhabitants is located some 20 km south of Koh Chang, about an hour and a half from Trat. It lies roughly halfway between Koh Chang and Koh Kood, and still enjoys a discreet, relaxed character. It has a few mountains and coconut and rubber plantations. While there are a few resorts on Koh Mak, there are mostly small restaurants, a few shops and a few long, almost wild beaches. It's a very peaceful island, easy to explore by bike, and ideal for disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of city life.
