This small town is characterized by strong Laotian and Vietnamese communities, some of whose members fled the communist regime. Most of these people are Catholics, which explains the small church in this remote corner. The ancient colonized brought with them the art of baking. Most of the inhabitants work in the making of the "spring rolls", and Sri Chiang Mai remains one of the world's largest exporters of this dish. It is possible to make nice pictures of the spring roll leaves drying in the sun. You can also take advantage of the area to go for a nice walk along the Mekong River
