Located a few kilometres northwest of Chiang Mai (take Highway 107), this small town has a number of tourist activities in its vicinity, including several elephant sanctuaries, Mae Sa Waterfall and the Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens. The top of Mon Jam Hill is also a popular destination, with many accommodations and restaurants to escape Chiang Mai for a weekend. A popular activity in the valley is to ride the Samoeng Loop on a two-wheeler to explore the wonders of the Mae Sa Valley
