«Krung Théb Mahanakorn Amun Rattanakosin Mahithrayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udom Ratchaniwet Mahasathan Amun Phiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathatiya Witsanukam Prasit». This is the full name of Bangkok in the Thai language. Translation? «City of Angels, immortal city and magnificent, with nine gems, seat of the king and magnificent palaces, remains the ingrown gods, built by Visvakarman according to the will of Indra». To make it simple, Krung Thep!To pronounce the name of the kingdom's capital is already to make an imaginary journey, which evokes dreams, fantasies and myths attached to Asia. The City of Angels is not easily tame. Many pressed travellers will only retain pollution, traffic jams, tumulte… and yet it has so many facets to offer to visitors who choose to be killed by the whirlpool.Bangkok is a city of contrasts. The inevitable modern aspects of a large capital coexist with the siamese rural tradition. Every evening, travelling sellers laboriously earn their lives in the shade of skyscrapers; The tinted 4 x 4 tropicana with tinted glass go through the avenues while the long vrombissants sticks take precedence over the khlongs of popular neighbourhoods. Rattanakosin, the historic city with its rich history temples and teak houses from another era, lives at the rhythm of monasteries near the shopping centres of Siam Square and the night clubs of Sukhumvit. However, Bangkok is not just the squalor pictures that tarnish its image, nor is it just one step in the Asian route of a small budget traveller. It alone could claim displacement, which reflects the multiple facets of this vast country. You can choose a charming economic stay on the outskirts of Banglampoo, with its popular canteens and street merchants, or indulge in a fun circuit between new design hotels, luxury shops, chic restaurants and trendy bars. Bangkok can fascinate, écœurer, shock, but rarely leave the traveler indifferent. Give yourself the chance to know it better in order to enjoy the treasures it can offer.

Budget

This is one of the big advantages of Thailand and also of Bangkok, the standard of living is much lower than in a European country like France, 60% on average. One can easily eat in restaurants and sleep in guesthouses for a modest sum in Bangkok and even in luxury hotels for an excellent quality-price ratio. The currency is the baht, and it is easy to change money and pay by credit card. Tipping is customary but not mandatory.

Procedures

No need to pay a visa for Thailand and thus Bangkok if you stay less than 30 days. And a return trip to the border (Laos, Myanmar or Cambodia...) is enough to renew this 15 days authorization to stay in Bangkok, renewable only 4 times, after that you have to take an additional plane each time you leave.

Health

No mandatory vaccines for Bangkok and Thailand in general but DT-Polio, typhoid, hepatitis A and B vaccines are recommended. An anti-malaria treatment is officially recommended, but a protection against insects is sufficient except if you go in the north which is more at risk. Water is not drinkable in Bangkok, it is recommended to drink bottled water and to avoid raw vegetables and seafood in popular shops.
