Thomas Bridges and Mary Ann Varder established this estancia in 1886. Bridges, who had travelled with his family to the Falklands, set about organising the Anglican mission to Ushuaia in 1870. He was the first European to reside permanently in Tierra del Fuego. After 30 years of good and loyal service, he was granted a piece of land and settled with his wife. Thus, this estancia is the oldest in Tierra del Fuego. After restorations, the traditional style was preserved. If the atmosphere has something surreal (the concrete impression of the end of the world), the guided tour is not essential.
