It was Magellan who baptized the city, located between Cabo Curioso and Punta Desengaño, when he entered the bay on March 31, 1520, and celebrated his first mass on Argentine soil the following day. Puerto San Julian has the picturesque charm of these small villages at the end of the world. Darwin reported the "formidable geological revolutions" that can be observed there in his book Voyage aboard the Beagle. At the beginning of the 20th century, the importance of the sheep's wool trade ensured a certain prosperity, and today this port is a possible stopover between Comodoro Rivadavia and Rio Gallegos, for those who prefer places that are a little wild.
