CERRO DE LOS SIETE COLORES

Petit Futé's opinion on CERRO DE LOS SIETE COLORES

Vintage plate 2020

It's the main attraction of this pretty village! The tour of the Cerro de los sietes colores (mountain of the seven colors) is free, the path is very easy, not to be confused with the 20 pesos tourist attraction which consists in climbing the first mountain overhanging the village, close to the center! Here you can walk a few kilometers, or do it by car. Pleasant walk, to be done preferably at a time of the day when it is always a little cool, the heat can be intense in the afternoon. Purmamarca nestles in the heart of the Seven Colours Mountain, so you will see it from the centre, watching over the village. All along the Andes discovery, you can see mountains of various colours. Its colours are not peculiar to the Andes, but to a recent mountainous formation that has made underground formations visible on the surface of the Earth. You will see the same type of landscape in the Himalayas. Each colour indicates its age: from red at 80 million years old to white at 3 million years old. During your journey you will often see this type of mixture, breathtaking, but the Seven Coloured Mountain of Purmamarca is one of the few places where you will be able to contemplate the entire colour palette. The vision is splendid and you can extend it by walking around the mountain by the small path that passes in front of the cemetery (a small hour's walk).
