Ischigualasto, which in Quechua means "place where life does not exist", is an ancient geological curiosity dating back 180 to 230 million years. Indeed, the landscapes are lunar and the vegetation is rare in this semi-arid mineral desert. The Cerro Morado is the highest point of the park at 1,800 meters above sea level. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the only place in the world where the Triassic geological period can be seen in a well-differentiated way, in a complete and orderly manner over the thickness of the rock. It is also here that fossilized dinosaur skeletons have been exhumed, of which you will find specimens in the park museum.
