Los Penintentes is a very small ski resort. A stay on the slopes of this corner of nature is much less expensive than a stay in Las Leñas, but should not satisfy your desire to go downhill: the area is only a few slopes. It owes its name to the curious formation of the rocks that can be found on the left side of the road. According to the locals, their shapes sculpted by erosion evoke a procession of monks (hence the penitents). In summer, you can also enjoy the resort as the chairlifts operate during the weekends, providing beautiful views of the surroundings
