Victoria, a city of just over 30,000 inhabitants, came out of its lethargy in 2003 with the inauguration of the Rosario-Victoria Bridge, which connects it to the neighbouring big city. The indigenous Charrúas inhabited the area and after several battles, they were massacred in the place called La Matanza, in 1750. Many immigrants of Basque origin settled there later, followed by Genoese, then Spaniards and a large number of Italians.

You can admire beautiful wrought iron gates, built shortly after the May 1810 revolution. At first simple, they became more complex with the arrival of the Italians, before the French influence was felt in the 1920s. In fact, Victoria is nicknamed the city of the Gates.
