It is a set of remains left there, somewhat abandoned, and can be visited without fear of the tourist influx at the main site. Unfortunately, there is little left to see of what was the royal palace, council chamber and royal baths of Nissanka Malla, who ruled the kingdom from 1187 to 1196. However, the foundations, the pillars of the council chamber and a lion statue can be seen. The complex is spread over a small area and will be of more interest to those staying at Polonnaruwa Resthouse.
