This building, dating from 1671, is one of the few to be partly embedded in the fortifications. Much of the collection was lost in the tsunami. The first part of the visit concerns the means of maritime transport in the south of Sri Lanka, the traditional lifestyle of the fishing communities and fishing techniques. The second part presents the different marine ecosystems, their flora and fauna. Along the way, there are many artifacts recovered from the wrecks of ships of all nationalities that sank off the island.
