At an altitude of 1,200 m, below the rampart of the Maïdo and Grand-Bénare, between Marla and Roche-Plate, you must go and see this very impressive chasm that the river has dug into the basalt, polished for thousands of years (more than twelve thousand years!). Three enormous stones placed in front of the notch of a deep fault that tears the slab and into which the river plunges in a shattering waterfall. Do not get close, it is very slippery and dangerous. The route is quite difficult, whether you arrive from Roche-Plate (3h), Marla (1h30) or La Nouvelle (1h30). It is also a fabulous place to bivouac under the starry sky.
