Soufriere was the very first town on the island. It was even the capital of St. Lucia in the past, but because of the latent danger represented by the volcano, it was abandoned for Castries.Famous for its two pitons, its two triangle-shaped mountains that fall steeply into the sea, symbol of Saint Lucia, and its volcano, Soufriere is a must-see during a stay in Saint Lucia. The hike to the top of Gros Piton is also a must. The town and its colorful houses remain authentic. Don't miss a walk on its magnificent beach with a view on the pitons.
